Ruff Ramp® comes partially assembled. We provide the few screws, and bolts that are needed to complete the job. To make it easier we have drill pilot holes where the screws go. You will need common household tools like a Phillips screw driver, adjustable jaw wrench, and a small hammer or mallet. Ruff Ramp comes with easy to follow instructions, and there are assembly videos on our website and YouTube.
You can and Ruff Ramp® will be very secure, however, just be aware you will leave permanent holes in your deck where the screws go.
We recommend to extend Ruff Ramp® by one additional section, if there is room. This will give your dog an even more gradual slope and the stone will not be effected. If there is not room for another section, add a Ruff Ramp® Landing to turn Ruff Ramp® 90° or even 180° to position the bottom bracket of Ruff Ramp® on the open ground.
If there still isn’t space to anchor Ruff Ramp®, you can add an additional name plate so wood is on the stone and not the bracket. Ruff Ramp® will not be anchored, but it will still be solid and won’t move.
Lastly, some customers will use TapCons and a hammer drill to secure Ruff Ramp® to a concrete or stone. Note: that this will put permanent holes in the stone.
Ruff Ramp® was designed, tested, and veterinary approved for each section to span 2 steps. Using less sections to create a Ruff Ramp® to span more than the recommended stairs increases the risk of injury to the dog and to whomever is accompanying your dog on Ruff Ramp®. IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED YOU USE RUFF RAMP® OUTSIDE THE RECOMMENDED USES.
Ruff Ramp® was designed for exterior use. But stay tuned, Ruff Ramp® for Interior stairs is in the development phase currently. In the interim, some customers have adapted the Exterior Ruff Ramp® for their interior staircase. I doesn’t work for everyone, but it may work for you. If you would like to explore this option, Schedule a Consultation by using the blue oval on the bottom right side of any web page, and we will see if that will work for you!
Ruff Ramp® is designed for the elements of the exterior and will not be affected by rain or snow, but snow is a safety hazard for any Pet. You should carefully remove as much snow and ice from Ruff Ramp® as you can before your dog uses Ruff Ramp® so your dog always has good footing. We offer shovel that will work for Ruff Ramp® on the SHOP page.

Ruff Ramp® comes in 3 Sizes and 5 different heights of guard rail. There is a Ruff Ramp® for any size dog.
Yes, and this is important. A stair is anytime you would have to lift your leg to move up.
Ruff Ramp® is designed to provide a gentle 15° slope for your dog. Counting the stairs wrong causes a greater slope for your dog to endure.
Great question. The standard riser height of a stair is 7″. Ruff Ramp® is designed to this standard. If you have a 8 stair steep staircase with 9″ risers, you will have 72″ of vertical height to cover instead of 56″. An 8 Stair Ruff Ramp® will be too steep for this situation. A 10 stair Ruff Ramp would be recommended in this scenario.
